Synching Treo600 to Evolution

Folks,

I am running RHEL 4 Beta 2 and am trying to get my Treo 600 to synch with Evolution. When I go through the gnome-pilot settings and hit the synch button it just sits there and does nothing and finally times out.

I have linked /dev/pilot to /dev/ttyUSB0 and did chmod 666 /dev/pilot.

What am I missing here ??
