Neither DISPLAY=:0.0,  nor DISPLAY=Mafalda:0.0, nor DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0 worked ...

Just in case, another datum: gpilotd stops and shows this error after I clicked the creadle hot sync button  (ie: before, gpilotd keeps waiting/listening).

Just my 2 cents, but I get this same behavior when I call
gpilot-install-file from the crontab (as a normal user of course). I
have to "export DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:0.0" to make it work (although no X
windows is actually opened in the process...)
