Re: Name of projects

I have to say - I totally agree ...

The name is not an all too important issue - but it helps to shed some light for newbies like me when it comes to searching for packages doing specific tasks ... I had to look a bit before it dawned that gnome-pilot could also be used for something like a Paml Vx. Come to think of it - of course it does, but then again - users with less experience than I have might not link the two immediately ...

pda-link or gnome-pda are ok I think
or an acronym might be useful too, since pda's are getting used more and more
gnomda or something - the gnome digital assistant ?

just an opinion of course

I know this is sort of out of the blue, but I'm just thinking that since
the new versions of pilot-link and gnome-pilot are going to be rather
significant (mainly pilot-link, I guess), would it be a good time to
consider renaming the projects, since "pilot" is not the name of a PDA
any more? It seems that pda-link/gnome-pda would be the safest
"future-proof" names.

I know the name isn't really important, but I'm just thinking that since
the 0.11 release of pilot-link is going to require users/distributions
to pay extra attention and upgrade two or three packages at once, it
might be a good time to make a "now or never" decision on renaming.

Just a thought.
