Once you have configured everything in the settings, it should start
gpilotd running automatically ... you can also add the PilotSync applet
(Panel/Add to panel/Applet/Utility/PilotSync) to your panel and check
its status ... have you actually configured PilotLink as well as
PilotConduits ? The PilotLink control panel is the bit that will setup
the device and pick your palm username and id from an initial
connection.
