SUCCESS!!!!!!  After starting up the program, I waited a few seconds, let it 
attempt to bind a couple times, and then hit sync.  Heres the log:

*cough*.  I am pleased to report that it worked in my case ;-)

i386 2.4.6 (home-rolled) Debian/Sid w/ Visor Deluxe.

P.S.  Score one for the GPL!  This would note have been resolved as quickly 
if we hadn't had the gnome-pilot source to look at.  Thanks guys (Dave Camp
