Concerning the compatibility, the answer is yes and no. Some simple
packages may install successfully, but other more complex packages may
not. Besides, mandrake is more or less following debian's naming
convention of packages, so package names and dependencies may get messed
up if using stock spec files.

That's just a choice anyway. Even though they rename a lot, they still
have a working gnome, right?
