First: I believe, latest version of xalf is 0.12; as its
home page (http://www.lysator.liu.se/~astrand/projects/xalf/) states,

I do not know if 0.12 is in CVS - maybe contact the author? 

Second: 

Here is my plea to the people on this list: please, make RPMs of this
beta. Yes, I know: this is not for users, and if you can't build it,
don't mess with it, etc. But I really wanted to try beta1 - and file
bugs, not to mention checking status of docs - and couldn't: it
wouldn't build for me, with some rather obscure error messges. I
probably could make it build, but I am not a developer, and I do not
have time for this right now. I am not the only one like that (e.g., I
believe Telsa also prefers having RPMs) - so if we want to get large
number of testers, maybe one of you could make RPMs available?
