The bad news is that as things stand it is next to impossible for
gnumeric to use any code in abiword, or vice versa. There just
hasn't been a layer we could collaborate on until recently.
There is lots of good news though.
1) Gnumeric doesn't need abicode in this instance. Pango is more
than sufficient for the simple task of displaying rich text. To
date we were constrained by libbonoboui and libgnomeui and lacked
a way to _specify_ rich text. Drawing it isn't terribly hard.
2) With the addition of libgsf to the xp layer of abiword there is
finally a place for gnome office apps to share code.
3) Even better, the libgoffice module currently living in gnumeric
is very close to being made standalone. Its probably not
suitable for the xp layer in abiword (too much ingrained gtk) it
is usable for the gtk only or gnome builds.
