The error message is telling you that pkg-config cannot find the file
called "gstreamer-libs-0.6.pc".

So you're missing development packages for gstreamer-plugins 0.6.x

If you're rebuilding gnome-media anyway, you might consider going for a
newer gstreamer (0.8 series) and consequently a newer gnome-media
release.
