[gnome-mud] Critical errors on startup, Seg Fault during key depression

Hey guys! Great product. I am trying to use
gnome-mud 10.2 (although 10.3 gives the same errors).
I do not have root permissions, so everything must be
kept local.  I'm using
Linux version 2.4.20-20.9 (gcc version 3.2.2 20030222
(Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5 aka Redhat 9)). I configure
with the following command:

./configure --prefix=/home/corbe/local
--with-gconf-source=sourceaddress=xml::/home/corbe/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults

Note that the schema files are installed under
/home/corbe/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/schemas

I also specify with PKG_CONFIG_PATH a different vte
version in the ./configure script.

Everything seems to compile ok, except that
scrollkeeper can't write to a log file:

Cannot write to log file: /var/log/scrollkeeper.log :
Permission denied

Other than that, everything's fine. I run the prog
and the following errors are produced:

light>~/local/games/gnome-mud

(gnome-mud:24924): GLib-CRITICAL **: file gstrfuncs.c:
line 1772 (g_ascii_strncasecmp): assertion `s1 !=
NULL' failed

(gnome-mud:24924): GLib-CRITICAL **: file gstrfuncs.c:
line 1772 (g_ascii_strncasecmp): assertion `s1 !=
NULL' failed

** (gnome-mud:24924): CRITICAL **: file vte.c: line
10914 (vte_terminal_set_font_from_string): assertion
`name != NULL' failed

The GUI shows up and the second I press a key, it seg
faults.  Any ideas?

The backtrace and errors seem to be those of "jrovira"
as he reported on Dec 8.

Thanks!

Chad
