Keyboard Shortcut question

I'm using Metacity under Sun SPARC 8's GNOME 2.0 distribution.
I know how to associate the execution of programs to keyboard
shortcuts.
But can I set up a character string to be generated to whereever
keyboard focus is located?

For instance, say I want to press ctrl-meta-f1 and have the text of
a street address output.  Is there a way to do that?
