GDM does not start

Hi everyone,

on my PC is running Debian SID and Gnome 2.4. Everytime when I try to
start gdm, the screen is "blinking" (X starts and crash or broke and so
on ...) 4 times. Then I get a message: "Failed to start X several times
in a short ...". But X is working when I start manually via <startx>.

Is this possible a version-issue? In XFree86.0.log there is nothing
special to see.
