delay in the run-app dialog (ALT-F2)

hi,
is there anything i can do about the delay in the ALT-F2 dialog?

i understand that it browses thru my hdd to find executables so it can
offer auto-completion,

but what if i don't need/want it. i just don't want to wait for
4-8seconds in the run-application dialog
