2.4: Cannot start gnome-control-center

Hi list,

yet another problem with 2.4:

rebehn taipeh [~]: gnome-control-center
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: XDM authorization key matches an existing client!

(nautilus:50189): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:

Of course, i can start any other X11 program without problems.
Also, how does nautilus come into play?

OS: FreeBSD 5.1

Still not able to change the default browser...
