gdm and xfree86 4.3.0

I recently installed xfree86 4.3.0 and now I can not run gdm. When I
try to run gdm, the system gets stuck in a loop and I never see the
gdmlogin prompt. In /var/log/messages I see:

Could anyone please give me some hints as to how to get gdm and
gdmlogin to work properly? 

Also this onyl happens if I choose "Graphical Greeter" in gdmsetup. If
I choose "Standard Greeter" I can login, but when I try to end the
session, it only kills the window manager, and the gnome session hangs.

If this is the wrong list to post to I apologize, perhaps someone
could recommmend the correct list in that case.
