Well, Ximian presumably has a libgnomeui-2.2.x as part of XD2 if
they support Red Hat 8. I can't really give you any guidance
about installing it or upgrading to it.

I don't think running evolution-1.4 on top of the gnome-2.0 
libraries is going to work very well, even with GTK+ upgraded, so 
I would recommend upgrading to Red Hat 9. Ximian Desktop 2 would be 
another possibility.
