group name in some apps when expecting user

I'm not sure what is causing this - but it happens in several apps.

gnome-games
When it saves a high score, it uses the group name instead of the user
name.

evolution
When setting up a new account, it defaults to the group name, not the
user name.

gnome-pilot
When setting up a new palm pilot, it defaults to the group name, not the
user name.

Anyone know what's going on?
