Easy method to test an applet

Hello,

I am looking for an easy way to test a gnome2 applet I am developping.
For the time being I am using panel-test-applets but it requires first to
install the applet (which is not always convenient from a user account)
and it is far from being interactive (you have to select all parameters
manually).

Is there a command line version of panel-test-applets?
