Most fonts aren't uni-spaced.  Normal text looks a little "funny" when
all the letters/symbols are the same width (a lower-case l shouldn't be
as wide as a capital M).  Obviously, on a terminal, you want them to all
be a uniform width.

The Terminal fonts are uni-width fonts.  Most of the rest aren't.
