Try  mv ~/.gnome/Terminal ~/.gnome/Terminal.bak and restarting.

You might also hold control and shift while logging into gnome.  This
will give you a menu where you can reset all gnome applications.  See
the gnome user's guide for more specifics.

I'd try the move idea first.
