installing oaf

hi,
I'm trying to install gnome but i've got troubles while
installing oaf-0.6.8,
"configure" says :
checking for poptDupArgv in -lpopt... no
configure: error: You must have popt 1.5 or newer to compile oaf.
but i've already installed with success popt-1.6.1
does anybody see the point ?
PS : i'm working on a PPC
