Hi Gnomers,
I just installed RedHat 7.1 on my Compaq. I believe that the partition
was set up correctly, and that LINUX was installed correctly on half of
my computer. However, when I boot up (using LILO) I only get the prompt-
no GUI. If I type 'startx', I get the following message:
execve failed for /etc/x11/x (errno 2)
-x11 TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno =111
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111):unable to connect to xserver
xinit: No such process (errno 3): server error.
I thought that I needed to reinstall my xserver, but after going to the
disk and reinstalling it I still have the problem. One other note:
During the installation LINUX appeared to recognize my monitor but did
not pick up my video card.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Help is appreciated. -Heinz.
