Edit ~/.Xclients (at least in my distro is this file) and put the apps
you want there, like:
xterm &
exec fvwm2
It is a script, like any other shell script. You can do conditionals,
clean up logs and other shell things. If you want more info, you
should read xinit docs, and examine xinit default config files.
