Gnome wont start on my SUSE7.2

I installed Ximian Gnome and it looks good so far, but i cant login with kdm 
(i dont even know the name...there ist no file called gnome) and after 
manually installed GDM my computer booted but after a warning i could not 
enter a login name in the field or anything. My Keyboard stops working, no a 
single key works.
I have a standard 102 Keyboard, no special function. Its a plain PS/2.
I did not had any problems with Gnome that comes with my Distribution SUSE 
7.2/i386 !
