gconfd and /var/log/messages

Hi,

I'm not a gnome user, but I do use galeon, with other assorted packages
installed which support galeon, such as gconfd. However, gconfd is
filling up /var/log/messages with spam, such as:

Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): starting (version 1.0.1), pid 11183 user 'ajw'
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Adding source `xml:readonly:/etc/opt/gnome/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory'
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Adding source `xml:readwrite:/ajw/.gconf'
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Adding source `xml:readonly:/etc/opt/gnome/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults'
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Initializing XML backend module
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Unloading XML backend module.
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Initializing XML backend module
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Directory/file permissions for XML source at root /ajw/.gconf are: 700/600
Nov 20 12:16:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): Directory/file permissions for XML source at root /etc/opt/gnome/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults are: 755/644
Nov 20 12:21:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): 24 items remain in the cache after cleaning already-synced items older than 300 seconds
Nov 20 12:36:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): 1 items remain in the cache after cleaning already-synced items older than 300 seconds
Nov 20 12:51:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): 1 items remain in the cache after cleaning already-synced items older than 300 seconds
Nov 20 14:21:22 hostname gconfd (ajw-11183): 4 items remain in the cache after cleaning already-synced items older than 300 seconds

(sorry, it's not wrapped for reasons of readability.)

Can anyone point me to a FAQ (or advise me) about how I can stop this
from happening or at least how I change the file that gconfd logs to?
I use slackware 8.0, and the gconfd package is straight from the
slackware-8.0 directory on ftp.slackware.com.

Thanks for your help.

Alex.
