problem with adding my own mime-type editor

hi
i'm using sylpheed email program. this program is using gnome's mime-handlers to open attachments.
and this is a problem
for example:
i'm trying to add editor for .sdw files.
so i:
1. run gnomecc
2. got o file types and programs
3. find filetype which uses .sdw extension (star word)
4. i choose "default action" as "open with application", but the applications list is empty (only "none")
5. i click on "edit list"
6. i do "add application" with application name = "Star Office" and Application Command = "/home/users/depesz/office52/soffice/" i also check can open multiple files and can open from uri.
7. O.K. (back to "Edit Applications List")
8. O.K. (back to gnome control center)
9. from the list of applications i choose star office
10. the "default action" field in mime-types list is still empty, so i choose "use viewer" and then again "open with application"
11. "default action" field in mime-types list is now filles witrh star office, but the buttons "try", "undo" and "cancel" are not active. just like if i did't do anything.
12. i press o.k. and quit gnomecc
13. nothing happens. sylpheed still doesn't know how to open attachments, and when i go back to gnomecc it againa says that there is no default action for .sdw

i'm using gnome from ximian, but i had same thing with gnome from pld.
if you need any more information please let me know. i need this extremly urgently.
