I've seen this before on RH 7.1. You probably have db, db2, and db3 (-devel)
installed. configure with --enable-prefer-db1 and this should work.
(Or remove db2/3 and devel packages so it doesn't spot them)

It's in bugzilla. I think new releases of gnome-libs should come with
a "note: use --enable-prefer-db1" in the release notes until this is
