can't start mozilla in GNOME 1.4

Hi,

I have a problem with GNOME 1.4. I am unable to start mozilla using a panel
launcher. The application itself (mozilla-bin) starts, but does not show any
windows. I have to kill it manually from the command line. If I check the
"run in terminal" checkbox in the launcher preferences, the mozilla window
appears, however I find it annoying to have an unnecessary terminal open
just to run mozilla.

The funny thing is, the same thing works without problems on my second
machine.

Anybody knows what the problem might be ?
