Re: gnome-print and fonts (Gnumeric)

Hello!

It is not a bug, or if, than the bug of X itself. Gtk canvas (gnumeric) has to use
X fonts, antialiased one (print preview) uses font outlines directly. But antialiased
canvas has other problems, so it is unpracticable for gnumeric.
The situation will become better, if gnome will move to X render, but that will
take some time.

Sometimes gnumeric display will become better, if you reorder your fonts in
X/xfs configuration file. Gnome-print uses first X font with correct style and
size for Gtk canvas display - so if scalable fonts are before bitmap ones, the
scalable ones will be used.

>From my xfs config file:

        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
