error starting gnome 1.4beta2

hi,

when starting gnome i get this:
/convert: No such file or directory
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image: /usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-session.png
All fallbacks failed.

and then a whole load of these messages, each with another image.
anyone got an idea what the problem can be?
