gnome-vfs HEAD is not the newest gnome-vfs source code. You can find the
newest code on the stable branch (and the branch used for GNOME 1.4),
gnome-vfs-1.

This error is fixed in the gnome-vfs-1 stable branch, but the fix hasn't
been rolled back to HEAD yet.

There's a gnome-vfs mailing list at ximian.com that has all the gnome-vfs
experts. They don't necessarily read this list. One way to subscribe is to
go to http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/gnome-vfs.
