Gnome locks frequently

Hi all.	
	I've been watching for fix for this as well.  I'd love to run Gnome as it 
has features I really like.  However I can't run it reliably because of these 
lockups.  
	I can't do anything but to hit the reset button on the power.  ctrl+alt+bksp 
is of no use.  Nothing is.  I can't get to a virtual terminal to kill the 
process and I can't use the mouse.  I can't make it repeat on cue.
	Where might I look for evidence?  Below is the evidence left in 
~/,xsession-errors on a dummy account I set up.  Or at least I think this is 
the evidence.  <g>

	I'm running RH 7.2 (Enigma) with 2.4.7-10 kernel.  I have a P2 266 (kalamth) 
with 384 megs of ram.  The main board is a SOYO SY-6KB if that makes the 
slightest difference.  <g>

	I have no visible trouble on boot up.  Any clues or relevant links would be 
apprecaitated.

I've put up with this problem for awhile.  What happens if Gnome will
lockup on me for no apparent reason.  The only way out of this situation
is to cylce the power on the PC case.
