Newbie about gdm

Hi:
     I'm new to the list and maybe this question has been posted before but
any help will be apreciated.
     I've a linux box based on RH7 dist. also I was using the gnome
desktop. This machine is been used to test thinclients. Before upgrade the
gnome desktop to the helix package, I was able to login from thinclients
using the gdm in the server side. Now the gdm runs ok but only localy. The
upgrade has updated some config file but I'm not be able to remember/know
what files are involved in the GUI sessions.
     Any help in some starting point will be very apreciated.
