Gnome 1.2 and 1.4 on 1 system

I currently have Gnome 1.2 (Ximian) on a Solaris SPARC system. Now I would like to compile and install Gnome 1.4 without touching the 1.2.
Gnome 1.2 is installed in /opt/gnome, I thought on installing Gnome 1.4 in /usr/local/gnome.
Are there any conflicts I should be aware of? The reason for this is so that I can test 1.4 etc.. without impacting other users.
