Compiling libxml fails -- now what?

Hi gang,

I've been trying to get Gnome put together on a Linux/Sparc system
and have hit a brick wall. 

Before I get RTFM'ed let me just say that I have read the FAQ and
unless I need my glasses changed (a distinct possibility) I didn't
see anything that covers what I ran into. 

I did a "./configure --prefix=/usr" and it ran successfully. When I
run a "make" I get the following:

Where does it expact to pick up iconv.h from? Did I miss a step
somewhere?

So far I have successfully compiled the following and in the
following order:
	glib           version 1.2.10
	gtk+           version 1.2.9
	imlib          version 1.9.9
	ORBit          version 0.5.7
	audiofile      version 0.2.1
	esound         version 0.2.22

The version of libxml that I am trying to compile is 2-2.3.5

What next?
