No, install first the rpm-3.05 or 3.06 [1], it can read RPM4 packages
while keeping the same format for the database.
Important note: run rpm --rebuilddb just after upgrading to rpm4,
the database format changed and this is aboslutely needed if you
don't want to screw your rpm database (who does ?) !
