helixcode update gone bad for RH7

was doing the helixgnome install for RH7.0 last night and i got HD full
error......my /tmp area must have become huge?......or
something......anyway upon rebooting I got:

black blinking (where the monitor makes audible two beep noises ) screen
and no desktop to load of course..........in /etc/X11/xdm-error? it says
down page or two:

fatal server error:

could not open default font 'fixed'

can someone give me semi-novice walk through ofhow to repair system to get
my desktop back...
