Performance on the Linux platform

Can anyone explain why gmc loads in approximately 1.5 seconds when
executed by right clicking on the desktop & selecting create new window
from the menu versus a full 7 .0 seconds. to load from  any other
method. (ex ample: Main Menu - File Manager)

This has been experienced w/ three current version of RedHat on a
PentiumPro 180.
