Problems with gdk-imlib

Greetings,
Programs that rely on gdk-imlib won't run and give me this error:

gqview: error in loading shared libraries:
/usr/local/lib/libgdk_imlib.so.1: undefined symbol: png_libpng_ver

Like I said, it's all programs, not just gqview.
Could someone tell me what I need to do to fix this?
