Re: unable to use gnome except as root

I changed the permissions on both the home and user directory to be rwx
for all, but I still receive the same error - "Gnome Error: Could not create
per-user Gnome directory /home/username/.gnome".

I suppose I could create the dirctory by hand, but I think this will not solve the root problem. Any help is very appreciated.
