Thankyou Håvard,

You are right.  The Beta 2.0 LibXML stuff has found its way
into ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/rawhide/i386/RedHat/RPMS.  
I recently updated my Rawhide installation and wound up
installing the incompatible stuff.
