IIRC:
/sbin/ifup <pppinterface>
/sbin/ifdown <pppinterface>

That is what I use cos I have multiple ISPs and I configured one interface
alias per ISP (ppp1, ppp2 and so on, with ppp0 as real device).

Does anybody know an applet that supports what I do via cmdline?
