can't open file in default editor

Hi
Since upgrading to Gnome 1.2 I'm not able to open many files in my default editor. If I right click on a file and select edit the editor will open but as a plain untitled document. I've checked mime types, etc. and everything seems to be ok. It will work with some files eg. README but not for others like .procmailrc. Any ideas?
