Gnome Sound events

What program does gnome use to play it's wav files for sound events?
Should it not either
	(a) Be included with whatever package is responsible for
		gnome sound events, probably gnome-core.
	(b) Make the package that contains the "play wav file program"
		be a pre-requisite for the package in (a).
