session priorities. . .

Could someone please explain how priorites work in the
/usr/share/gnome/default.session and ~/.gnome/session files?

I changed my /usr/share/gnome/default.session file to start gnome-wm
instead of enlightenment, without changing the priority setting. Having
exported the WINDOW_MANAGER variable to match my choice for wm, I
started an X session for a dummy user (`dummy' as in for test purposes)
who had never logged in before. The window manager loaded fine, but
then all the GNOME stuff that usually loads really fast took about a
minute or two to load. And I've tried a few different window managers,
so I don't think the problem is with using non-enlightened software.

I'd very much appreciate any help with this.
