Exceed is indeed a X Server for your Windows PC.
And that's exactly what you need to run a GNOME session.
Basically what you are doing is converting your Windows PC on an X Terminal of
a GNU/Linux machine.
Configure GDM to accept remote connections:
/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
[xdmcp]
Enable=1
All you have to do is to enter run level 5 (in RedHat, 3 in SuSE) and then GDM
will start working.
Then go to your Windows machine, configure Exceed to use full screen, instead
of application windows, use the XDMCP Direct method, and point it to the IP of
your GNU/Linux machine, and you will get the login screen of GDM, log in and
you are done!!!!
