gnome-applets & locale

Hello

I've been translating gnome-applets in romanian, and a few suggestions
came into my mind.

What are the memory, swap, CPU applets for ? There's one great applet,
which shows them all. Is anyone using these three ?

The odometer applet (now that's a useful one :-) has a setting Use metric.
Shouldn't be a system wide setting for what measurement units to use, 
set by locale ? (locale should set the language, measurement unit,
decimal separator, date format, currency, ...)
