autologin

I am new to the list here.  We recently built a new lab full of machines
running RedHat 6.  Since the machines were delivered a few days before
classes started, we did not have a mechanism in place to create mass
amount of user accounts.  Instead, we decided to create an account for
each machine.  We would like to have each machine automatically login
after a period of a minute or two.  This would allow people with real
accounts on our Solaris system to logout and login.  Anybody know a good
way of doing this?  We traced out some of the x startup activity, and came
up with a loose conclusion that gdm or xdm was the piece of interest.  Can
anybody offer an advice or ideas?  Thanks.
