I have compiled it for Solaris x86 and it works pretty well.  There is
now a binary download in pkg format for Solaris x86 (from Bob Palowoda)
for peple who do not want to compile and install all the developement
stuff needed to get it installed. 

I think Paul has done something similar for SPARC architecture at the
site he gave before.
