gnome-pilot problems

I'm having some problems with the current gnome-pilot 0.1.30. (yes I know
it's somehwat alpha)  My problem is not with the program itself but with
the configure/automake/autogen.  For some reason configure wants to use
/usr/bin, /usr/lib to find all it's libraries.  Kooking at figure, it's
impossible to figure out why it wants to use /usr/bin instead of my path,
/usr/local/gnome.  Anybody know how to fix this?  Looks like speghetti to
me.
